When someone you love is fighting for their life, you discover that survival is never a battle fought alone.

I was a senior in high school when my father, Angelo Restivo, was diagnosed with stage four lung cancer and given just six months to live. I watched someone I loved face the unimaginable, and I learned that when one person is fighting, an entire family fights alongside them.

My father believed deeply in the power of faith, prayer, love, and human connection. He welcomed people into his life who would pray for him, lay their hands upon him, surround him with love, and tell him a better story—one filled with hope, healing, and the possibility of tomorrow. He believed that the positive energy and love we share with one another could make a profound difference in our lives. And I believe that openness to love, faith, and healing helped him defy the odds. Given only six months to live, my father went on to live another 17 years. And cancer was not even what ultimately took his life.

Years after my father passed, I found myself wishing I could go back and give him something during those difficult moments. Something simple. Something positive. Something that could remind him, even on his darkest days, that he was stronger than his fears, that he was loved, and that he was never alone.

Because sometimes, the most painful words we hear aren't spoken by anyone else. They're the words we tell ourselves in our own minds. The doubts. The fears. The quiet voice that tells us we aren't strong enough. And sometimes, all we need is a gentle reminder to tell ourselves a better story.

That wish became the inspiration for 4MeNotU.com.

I created a T-shirt with the words I AM A SURVIVOR printed in reverse. Why? Because when you stand in front of a mirror, those words become a message meant especially for you. A quiet, personal affirmation that I believe can reach beyond our conscious thoughts and speak to our subconscious, reminding us of the strength, hope, and resilience within us.

But this message isn't only about surviving for ourselves. It's about the people we love, the families who stand beside us, the hands we hold, and the reasons we find to keep going. It's about reminding ourselves that even when life feels overwhelming, we don't have to face it alone.

In loving memory of my father, Angelo Restivo, I created this message for cancer patients, survivors, their families, and anyone facing life's most difficult challenges.

This message transcends religion, borders, beliefs, color, race, and sex. It's about love. It's about hope. It's about self-healing and the power of telling ourselves a better story. Because when we tell ourselves a better story, we create a better world for ourselves and for those we love.
